Buildings over 18m are classed as Higher Risk Buildings (HRBs), and require significant flexibility in project delivery. This is particularly the case when unexpected discoveries are made during works.
Complications are not the sole preserve of HRBs: buildings of 11 m+ often require innovative access solutions and they too, deliver unexpected discoveries. Take a look at our case studies to find out more about how we navigate and overcome such challenges.
For these reasons and more, it’s very important to engage the services of established, specialist contractors for all fire wall risk remediation. At Elhance, we have the technical expertise necessary for working with building envelopes, and we understand how to deliver work with the minimum of disruption to building occupants.
We ensure safe working under professional site management, and generate ‘before, during, and after’ QA imagery as part of our ‘Golden Thread’ audit system. Many Elhance projects are registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme, Our work is also covered by fit-for-purpose £10m PII insurance for all fire-related work.
When it comes to external wall fire risk remediation, Elhance has all angles covered.
Design Services
Design underpins all Elhance remediation projects. Often, as-built drawings are not available to us, and we develop construction issue drawings from site measurement. Our design management team has both in-house and expert contracted façade designers. The whole design function falls under Elhance’s PII.
Our design team facilitates building control approvals and engages with the Building Safety Regulator. We can operate as Principal Designer for both Regulations and CDM requirements, and can demonstrate SKEB competency, and technically through our CWCT and IFSM memberships.
We have invested in the Procore construction management platform, and provide comprehensive document management and version control, allowing project stakeholders controlled, auditable access to drawings and specifications.
Resident Liaison Officer (RLO) services
Residents are at the heart of everything we do here at Elhance. People living or working in buildings that need to be made safe are our primary concern. To that end, we have a dedicated Resident Liaison function that is highly experienced in the proactive and sensitive engagement with residents.
While works are ongoing, residents are essentially living on a building site. As such, safety is absolutely paramount. Our RLO Team keeps all residents informed about planned works and their potential impacts. There may be temporary restrictions put in place around residents’ access to certain parts of a building, for example. All communications are GDPR compliant, with resident data handled professionally and compliantly.
The RLO Team often shares information via one-to-one sessions and group meetings. They identify residents, assess their requirements, and put in place appropriate plans to ensure that they’re managed. We’ve accrued many testimonials from residents complimenting our work – in particular the work of the RLO team in keeping them informed. Learn more, here.

Quality assurance
So that defective construction is not repeated, a robust quality assurance (QA) management system is essential. Our QA system is an extension of our Procore system, and requires site operative involvement to allow works to progress.
If no compliant imagery or physical inspection is logged, work cannot progress. We can demonstrate compliant installation through stored imagery, on any elevation of a building.
The paramount importance of quality assurance is evidenced by the existence of our own QA division. Our methodology has been universally accepted by developers and PMQSs, on behalf of their clients. Learn more about our QA processes via our case studies.
Passive Fire Protection
Applicable to both newbuild and occupied building refurbishment, Elhance offer a full range of passive fire protection services for commercial, industrial, public sector and residential buildings.
We provide fire stopping solutions that maintain compartmentation (fire doors’ installation and maintenance, partitions and other passive fire protection systems) designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through walls, floors and service penetrations.
We install new systems, undertake remedial works and upgrade existing protection to bring assets up to standard and strengthen a building’s overall fire resilience.
We combine practical expertise aligned with accredited assurance. All works are delivered to British Standard/current regulations/best practice ensuring lasting compliance and fire safety, protecting lives and assets.
